Dr. Kerry Ragan Wantuck
Dr. Kerry Ragan Wantuck is privileged to serve as a veterinarian to so many wonderful pets in our community. She believes in providing outstanding veterinary care through practicing superior medicine, advancing her own education through excellent veterinary continuing education, providing state-of-the-art equipment, and educating the public how to help our pets live long, happy lives.
Dr. Wantuck was born in Springfield and grew up in Harrison, Arkansas. She has ten years of experience as a small animal clinician and is honored to be the doctor to your beloved furry family members. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. After earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri in 2005, she began practicing in Springfield. Her lifelong dream to own a veterinary practice became true in 2014. Dr. Susan Ross, the founder of Healing Paws, hand-selected Dr. Wantuck to purchase the practice, continuing the same level of exceptional care that Dr. Ross had provided. Dr. Wantuck’s special interests include geriatrics, pain management, surgery, dentistry, and avian/small mammal medicine. She believes in thoroughly educating her clients about their animal’s heath, to ensure that the family is able to make the most informed decisions regarding their pet’s care.
Dr. Wantuck is married with two children, and her animal family includes four dogs and an ever-changing number of rescue cats that you can see available each day at the clinic for adoption. In her free time, Dr. Wantuck enjoys hiking, swimming, movies, and spending time with her family.

My name is Cheri, I’ve been working with animals for about 20 years now and have been in the veterinary field for the past 6 years. I volunteer for border collie and sheltie rescues and currently share my home with four wonderful rescue dogs – a border collie, 2 shelties and a mixed breed. I enjoy training my dogs and have been competing with them in agility for many years. In my spare time I also enjoy outdoor activities such as running, hiking, kayaking, gardening and spending time at the lake.
My name is Jackson Hood. I joined the Healing Paws team in January of 2016 to follow my passion of working with animals. I am currently attending Missouri State University with a plan to graduate in 2018 with a Wildlife Conservation and Management degree. I own a wonderful Goldendoodle named Harper who is like a daughter to me. In my free time I like to hike, kayak, bike (basically do anything outdoors), and spend time playing with Harper.
Hi! My name is Ashley and I became a member of the Healing Paws team in March of 2016. I graduated from Missouri State in 2014 with bachelors degrees in animal science and biology. Since then, I’ve been working as a veterinary assistant and following my passion to help provide the best care for our furry friends. I love to spend my time reading, writing or being crafty and I am completely in love with my two fur babies: my Shih Tzu, Star, and my cat, Samwise.
Hello, my name is Heather Downum and I joined the Healing Paws family in August 2016. I have 13 years experience working at a few clinics around the area as an assistant and a receptionist, including working with Dr. Wantuck previously at another office. When I’m not here I can usually be found at a sports event that my daughter is playing in or hanging out on the farm. My daughter also competes locally in speed events on her horse, so we spend a lot of time with the horses – whether it’s practice time or trail riding. In addition to the horses, we also have dogs, cats, rats, parakeets, chickens, and ducks that take up whatever is left of our “free time”.
